Development of ER stress and anticancer resistance

Targeting ER Stress

There are approximately 100 trillion cells in our body, and each cell has an endoplasmic reticulum (ER). The ER exists within the cell and produces proteins and cholesterol, and it is involved in moving the produced proteins to the required area. “ER stress” refers to the state 1) when proteins exceeding the ER's capacity to process enter the ER, reaching the limit in folding proteins and creating three-dimensional structures, and 2) when calcium depletion within the ER causes ER dysfunction, and it is responsible for cancer development, anticancer treatment resistance, and disease.

Holosmedic focuses on ER stress, and it is developing the world's first medicine to overcome drug resistance that inhibits key target proteins to overcome drug resistance with fewer side effects and greater safety.
